Are the pc doc type of programmes any use? I'm talking about PC Tune-up and 1 Click etc. They say they help clean up registry files etc., but I'm wondering whether my all new shining Windows 7 does the same thing?

Personally I think programs that offer to "clean up" your registry are a con and a waste of money.

Having a few redundant entries in your registry does no harm and will not slow down your PC.

In fact if a registry cleaner deletes the wrong information from your registry it could stop some programes (or even the whole of Windows) from working.

Save your money.
I wouldn't buy ANY registry cleaner. How could a program know what is rubbish or not on your PC?
e.g. when the registry data is a folder that doesn't exist

thanks - rather what I suspected!
If you want a program that will do these things and is free and safe download Glary Utilities which has one click maintenence and will do everthing you need to keep your computer in good running order. I have used this program for quite a few years and have never had any problems.
