"it didn't show a size in the right hand column"
Flash Player doesn't normally show a size in Add/Remove.
"However it won't now reinstall" What does that mean exactly? How are you trying to install it? Do you get an error message?
I'm pretty sure that your problem is not related to Flash - more likely it's related to the scripting options in whichever browser you are using.

... in fact I've just managed to duplicate your problem in IE, as follows:
Click Tools/Internet Options
Select the Security tab
Click Custom Level
Scroll down to the "Scripting" section
In the subsection "Active Scripting", selecting Disable will prevent the AB question entry from working correctly, whereas selecting Enable will allow it to work.
