I have a 2.4 ghz intel core 2 duo that i'm trying to get up to around 3 to 3.5. that would make a difference wouldnt it? I need the extra processing power to speed up some applications i'm using eg. 3d rendering. No i'm not willing to invest in any liquid cooling equipment and dont know enough to risk doing it myself
Here's an idea. HDDs are pretty quick to swap on a laptop so get your self another one and install your O/S on that. It will run pretty well as quick as the processor can. Only install the 3D rendering program. When finished put the other HDD with all your normal stuff on it.
HDDs are pretty cheap nowadays. You can put your spare HDD in a caddy and use it as a backup storage.
