I've just upgraded my laptop to Windows 7 everything seems ok except if somebody adds a link to a post I can't open it. Any advice would be greatly appreciated

check your pop- up blocker
Your post suggests that Windows doesn't know which program to use as your default browser. I'll assume that you want it to be Internet Explorer (even though many people here, including myself, consider that to be a poor option).

If you mean links on here, it is not your computer. Only the coloured links will work.

To post a link here one needs to paste the whole link with spaces at the beginning/end.

If you mean any link , there may be some setting that has to be tweaked.

I've had a problem with popups (they're blocked!) - but if I click on the link whilst holding down the Control key, it opens up in a new window.

Oops! Silly me!

Open Internet Options by clicking the Start button, clicking Control Panel, clicking Network and Internet, and then clicking Internet Options.

Click the Programs tab, and then click Make default.

Click OK, and then close Internet Explorer
