I have to draft a manuscript for publication, the publishers are distinguishing between hyphen, en (twice as long as a hyphen) and em (three times as long). Will I have this en symbol hiding on my keyboard somewhere? I am hoping that someone will know!

thank you for that, too!
for an 'en' dash use <Ctrl> with the minus sign on the numeric keypad

for an 'em' dash use <Ctrl><Alt> with the minus sign on the numeric keypad

If you are on a laptop without a numeric keypad use what others have advised.
