Mail Merge help needed please

Can anybody help me - I have several mailmerges to do and am making address labels. I am using the Wizard from Word and Excel databases.

My problem is that some of the addresses on my lists have only 2 address fields plus the postcode field, others have 3 or 4 plus the postcode. So I have fields: Name, Company, Add1, Add2, Add3, Add4, P/Code.

How can I get the Wizard to ignore the blank fields in the shorter addresses and compress the printed label so that there aren't any gaps?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

My wife has a Excel spreadsheet with a lot of addresses and she bringsh tem into Word using Mail Merge.

These have varying types of addresses (3 line, 4 line, 5 line etc) and Word manages to lay them out correctly automatically.

She does not have to do any manual "sorting out" and there are no gaps.

Yes - I never used to have that problem before but this year I have.
Could it be because I'm using the latest version of Microsoft Office? It took me a while to get used to the new layout and features but I like it now - apart from this problem with the mailmerge!
