Pages suddenly gone smaller

Last night when I went to shut down my laptop the desktop had divided itself into two halves, with the icons on one side and the START etc on the other. I managed to correct it this morning but now all my pages have become smaller with a black margin each side. Can someone tell me what I can do to rectify it. Thank you

Sounds like you've reduced the screen resolution

mentioning what version of windows would have helped as they are all a little different in how to rectify this, but if it's XP or vista right click anywhere on the desktop, select properties, click on the settings tab and move the screen resolution slider all the way to the right.

if it's windows7 then right click on the desktop and select screen resolution and select the recommended resolution from the drop down menu,

Well the desktop is ok but all pages on the web have big margins either side.

Like the remark about moving away from the screen from vibrasphere. Eyesight not too good but not that bad.

Hold down CTRL and either roll your mouse wheel or use the + and - keys to adjust the size of web pages to your liking.
