It's taking around 30 seconds to get off desktop lately,so I,ve been googling all the startups to see if they were really necessary. One of them (NUA) I can't find a thing about, and it hasn't been on there for long,so I have just unticked it....Does anyone know what it is? Thanks, John

At a guess, you've just disabled the Norton Update Agent. Do you have any Norton products on your machine?

Forgot, I update Norton every time I'm on the computer if it hasn,t updated itself John,
I think you need to re-enable NUA. Most decent AV packages update 2 or 3 times per day (sometimes more often) so if you are relying purely on manual updates, your system will be spending a lot of time with outdated virus definitions.
