While setting up a wireless connection on a laptop, what is the SSID after selecting the connection device?

Thanks, that did the trick. It's now asking for the network security key?? Where do I find that?
... it's possibly a sticker on the bottom of the router, might be the WEP key
What brand of router do you have? You should have changed your security settings when you first installed it. The default settings are normally admin for the name and password for the password ie SSID . You can log into router by typing 192.168.1.1 but go to the manufacturers web site and get their instructions as some use a different login address.
