As it would seem very likely I must purchase a new netbook, my only concern is will I be able to transfer "my docs" documents from my PC ( XP Pro ) to the Netbook (Windows 7)
In other words is XP Pro compatible with Windows 7?

If you want to transfer all your documents, e-mail accounts, e-mails, etc. You can use Windows Easy Transfer. It's free from Microsoft. Download and install the XP version to your existing machine, run it and save whatever you want to a USB stick, extrenal HDD or whatever. Connect the USB device to your new machine, and run the WIndows 7 version to import...

As long as they're standard format files (.jpg .doc .mp3 etc) you should just be able to stick em on a memory card and transfer them to 'my docs' on your new device.
