Problems playing DVDs on my computer
I used to be able to play DVDs on my computer. A few months ago, I had to reinstall my operating system, and now every time I try to play a DVD I get this message:
'Windows Media Player cannot play the DVD because a compatible DVD decoder is not installed on your computer.'
When I go to the help site I'm offered, they appear to be trying to sell me a decoder. This doesn't seem right when I could play them previously. Any help would be gratefully received.

Or if you prefer WMP! you just need the correct codecs installed, the k-lite pack includes the correct ones for DVD playback (and a few others)

Note... you don't need to install media play classic, you can uncheck that option, everything else as default should be fine.

Solution No. 1:
Use the (free) media player which the technical press (and BBC technology programmes) rate far more highly than Windows Media Player:
http://www.videolan.org/vlc/
Solution No. 2:
Use this free media media player, which is at least as good as the one above:
http://www.gomlab.com/eng/GMP_download.html
(It's what I use)
Solution No. 3 :
Try this:
http://en.kioskea.net...-972-dvd-decoder-pack
(NB: I know nothing about that download. It's probably OK but check it with your virus scanner, just to be safe).
