Hi my laptop an older Dell d600 is very temperamental and can start straight away, or after several attempts or not at all.

I have had the ram increased and a new conductor fitted any ideas welcome?

Thanks

I expect it's a dodgy conductor.
What do you, pray, expect from a Dell. Piece of sh.t
I have seen this problem before, And it could be that the RAM (memory cards) do not match, You say you have had the RAM increased, If a seccond Ram(memory card) has been added to your laptop, sometimes It won't work along side another one if there different types/brands. If so this can effect the laptop starting up.Try removing one of the two if this is the case, Then start up your laptop with just one RAM card and see if the problem has gone. If you find that was the problem but want extra memory, you will have to buy either one larger size memory ram card or two matching ones.
