I have just switched from internet explorer to Firefox. I'm not great at reading pages of instructions and crap etc, so i'm hoping that you guys will just make a few interesting points that would be useful to my "browsing experience".

Fact is there is bu99er all difference between major browsers so don't worry about it.
The only useful thing I found about Firefox was that it would block unwanted pop-ups and adverts. Last time I installed it I couldn't even find how to make it do that! There were just too many instructions, add-ons, plug-ins etc. and reading to be done, so I 'got rid'. Hope you have better luck. And I'm still trying to guess what T.I.A. means!
T.I.A. = Thanks In Advance.
T.I.A. = Thanks In Anticipation
T.I.A. = That Is All.
T.I.A. = This Is Awkward.

It depends on the question being asked or the answer given.
I went from Google Chrome to Firefox 3, Both are as good as each other IMO

I prefer Firefox, Older son prefers Chrome. Each to their own I suppose

Fanriffic, you forgot: Transient ischemic attack.

Coldicote: TIA = Thanks in advance.
Now would you like some proper advice?

Firstly, check that you've got the British English dictionary installed:
https://addons.mozill...h-english-dictionary/

Then get rid of all the adverts on sites like this one (and make those sites load much faster) by installing this:
https://addons.mozill...x/addon/adblock-plus/
(When you're installing that add-on you'll be asked to accept a subscription. Don't worry, it doesn't involve any payment! Just accept the easyList option, which tells Firefox which advertising sites to block).

If you want to be able to save Youtube videos to your computer, with just a couple of clicks, use this add-on:
https://addons.mozill...be-video-downl-10137/

Thanks Chris, thats the sort of stuff I wanted :-)
The only extra one I have installed apart from those mentioned by Chris is the tinyURL generator...

OH, and I also put the refresh/stop button back where it should be...

I use Firefox at home and Internet Explorer at work – and would agree with beso.
When I first started using forums, I wrongly assumed that TIA was someone's name and that's how they signed off their posts, I remember thinking that there was an awful lot of Tia's out there!!
