article in my paper, i haven't read the whole thing yet, but i am coming to the conclusion that is often the case. I have received such vile, hate filled e mails, from people i didn't know, i did opt out of receiving e mails, and reported the people, but then they just opened up new accounts. You couldn't repeat the language on here. It was on a website that i sometimes accessed, i have no idea why some people were often cruel, and spiteful, its why i shut the account. And quite frankly life is too short to put up with that kind of abuse, i wouldn't in real life, let alone in cyberspace.

It's very easy hiding behind Pixels on a PC and dishing out abuse.
I try and behave the same way as I do in real life as i like to treat People in the same way as I would like to be treated myself.
Internet abuse happens all too often and it was quite bad on AB at one time until the Editorial Team took control of the situation and banished most of the Trolls !
This site is far better now thank goodness.
i put a spare one of mine up on this site as i wanted to speak to another member
this spare email account has only ever had 1 email sent to it and that was from me to check it out
after getting an email from the other ab member i also got 3 more

two sex ones and one marriage offer :)

any sent to that address are just deleted now and not opened

Its why i don't like to give out personal mail address, and believe me whoever the person was that sent these e mails, would have been up in court, for abuse.

Perhaps some don't agree?
I agree em10
So do I
I'll wait for the sex ones and a marriage offer - sounds tempting lol

I haven't got a dark side!!

I don't think I behave any differently on AB then I do real life.
I think some people are too easily offended sometimes though. I totally agree that people (probably myself at one time or another) are slightly more confident in themselves on the internet and behave in ways they wouldn't in real life. However, say I was to receive e-mails of a bad nature from someone I had met online, they wouldn't bother. An e-mail is easily deleted. Even if someone on this website made accusations about me, I can't say I would be bothered. This is a place of faceless strangers.

If it were to go further, or I knew these people personally then that would matter but not as it stands.
its quite easy to ignore, you just had to remember there as sad individuals out there who have nothing better to do

the few i do have contact with away from here are lovely and genuine people and i can easily hit the delete button on those who aren't

welshyorkie, perhaps, but i learned a lesson many years ago, do not send abusive, sexist, rude, e mails, tx, or even letters, if you want to keep your job, or not be hauled up in court. Because that is evidence and as the police will tell you it can and will be used against you. Two people at my old company were instantly dismissed from their posts, for sending some funny, well they thought so, e mails, they weren't, and they were fired on the spot.
