WEBROOT PROBLEM

Can anyone please help me? I want to get rid of Webroot - which I was completely unaware I had - have never paid for it and don't know how it arrived but it is blocking me all the time from various websites. I get a message saying "Filtered and protected by Webroot" - in fact, it is blocking half this page as I type. I cannot find it listed in my Control Panel, nor do I have a symbol for it in bottom right hand corner - where else can I look please. It is driving me mad because the sites it is blocking me from are, in the main, well known hotels, companies, etc. Can anyone suggest what I can do?
Yours hopefully. Many thanks in advance.

http://support.webroo...wers/detail/a_id/1761 is the page with the basic instructions for uninstalling it

http://support.webroo...pZC9oVFA0SkRCaw%3D%3D is the page with instructions for removing it when there is a problem with the removal process given in the first link

http://download.techw...webroot-removal-tool/ has a link to download a Webroot removal tool which may be easier than following the instructions on Webroot's site

Huderon, thank you so much for your help. I had already tried the 1st 2 options but the 3rd seems to have worked. You have managed to do what my IT guys couldn't do! Thank you again.

I'm afraid I have to take back my previous remark. Even though I closed the pc down and started up again, the dreaded webroot is back - giving me "filtered and protected by webroot"! When I tried to uninstall, I got a message saying that it couldn't find any record of webroot! I will have another attempt at uninstalling - because it did work for half an hour!
I'd suggest running msconfig and removing it from your startup programs if possible until you find a way of removing it completely.
ummmm ... Is a program called Spy Sweeper installed on your machine ? That is a Webroot program, so if it is there, try removing it
Sorry, I should have added a bit more. If Spy Sweeper is installed, try removing it with Add/Remove Programs. It's possible that the links I gave you are for removing their anti-virus product, or that they remove the anti-virus but leave Spy Sweeper in place.

If it's there, and Add/Remove doesn't work, try a Google search for "remove spy sweeper" and see if anyone else has had a problem removing it and found a way round the problem.
Go to www.pchell.com and you will find how to remove any antivirus programs or spyware programs it will have the necesary uninstallers and the instructions to use them
