internet dropping off
just recently my internet connection keeps dropping off, never had a jot of a problem before. When I rang the ISP (talk Talk) they seemed to come up with the solution that my router was on the way out, but it can go for days perfectly ok, so i'm scepticle. Has anyone had similar problems, if so was it your router or did it turn out to be connection problems?

Used the new adapter/wire and had no problems since then, so now i have a spare router.
Yes its Talktalk pulling the plug or doing something dubious their end. Same thing has happened to me loads of times since I switched to TT two years ago - I was kept hanging on the help line for about half an hour while they talk you through all the tests to see why the connection isn't working ans are SO patronising. They then give you a "second level" helpline number (in other words they wash their hands of you!) when you ring that second level help line- they ALWAYS say its your router or your filter or your password causing it (never is) This time last year they said they were convinced it was my router so sent me a new one, they messed about with my password so many times, I got very very angry as I missed bids on Ebay so I threw a complete wobbly, told them I was going back to BT, asked to speak to a manager and lo and behold .......... suddenly my connection came back as if by magic!!! Believe you me - its them!! Threaten them with leaving Talk Talk, demand a discount on your monthly fees, ask to speak to a manager ....and I guarantee your problem will soon be solved!
Did Talk Talk provide your router.? If so ask them to let you have a new one.
BT gave me a new one when it was thought mine was at fault.(Which it wasn't.) There was a line fault which has now been corrected and my download speed is now in the high sixes ( Hit 7.01 on one occasion last week ) Furthermore, I now have a spare router.
Must admit that I have heard bad reports about TT.

The worst download speed in my area is from TT which I am lead to believe is only 800kbps whereas I have just checked mine and it is at present 6809kbps.
