Unexpected UPS email

An email which is apparently from [email protected] has ended up in my junk folder but the source code says that it came from [email protected]. This email include the UPS logo and tells me that a parcel I sent in July failed to get delivered because of a wrong address, and wants me to print out a new label; I am not going to do that because not only have I never used UPS but I have never sent a parcel to anyone by any means ever in my life.

Is someone else using my email address? Or is there the slightest chance that this could be a simple mistake by UPS? Should I simply delete it or is there anyone I should inform about the contents of this message?

Also, does anyone recognise these 3 paragraphs which are included in the body of the email:-

The invention of every machine conceives its first principles in the structure of the human hand; and every working part of that machine bears a relation in its function to a corresponding part in the mechanism of the hand.In fact, physics teaches us that the hand is a combination of the six mechanical powers--the lever, the wedge, the wheel and axle, the pulley, the screw, and the inclined plane. But the mechanical effect is always depreciated. In manufacture hand-made goods excel those made by machine. In art the exquisite hand-painting surpasses the lithograph. No mechanical device, however efficacious, can produce symphonies or pictures or works of any kind with the high degree of excellence of which the hand is capable. But aside from its mechanical functions, this wonderful organ is a revelation of the secrets of human nature. Graphology enables us to read the character of a person in the hand-writing which he produces.

He has set his heart on the girl, and I am sure that his passion is sincere and unselfish. On the other hand I need hardly remind you that in this city there are many women, even among those of the first rank, whose birth and origin are far more doubtful than those of your sons little friend, for she, at any rate, is descended from free and respectable parents. Her uncles connections are among the best families in Sicily; not that we need trouble ourselves about that, for the wife of Philips grandson would command respect even if she were only a freed- woman. I know, I know, murmured Mary, as though all this were of minor importance in her eyes; and then for some little time she remained silent. At last she looked up and exclaimed in a voice that betrayed the struggle still going on in her soul: What have I to care for but my childs happiness?

Such progress has been made in the examination and decision of cases of captures and condemnations of American vessels which were the subject of the 7th article of the treaty of amity, commerce, and navigation between the United States and Great Britain that it is supposed the commissioners will be able to bring their business to a conclusion in August of the ensuing year. The commissioners acting under the 25th article of the treaty between the United States and Spain have adjusted most of the claims of our citizens for losses sustained in consequence of their vessels and cargoes having been taken by the subjects of His Catholic Majesty during the late war between France and Spain. Various circumstances have concurred to delay the execution of the law for augmenting the military establishment, among these the desire of obtaining the fullest information to direct the best selection of officers.

I thought I should check first because although I get the usual spam (blue pills etc.) this is the first email of this type that I have received. Maybe I've just been lucky up till now.

should have included Thanks DT in that
Can't comment on your exact one but this sort of junk e-mail is not uncommon. Do a web search for a significant part on your e-mail to get more info. There is probably a link they hope you will click or something to run.

Yes, Old_Geezer, there was a button to print out the address and from the code I can see exactly to which webpage that would have taken me if I had made the mistake of clicking on it
Think you have just been lucky. I have had them from banks and others suggesting they need to reset my account details etc. Always forwarded them to the bank. Never open by clicking on any suggested links and never reveal your password or other personal details. They are so much like the real thing but grammar and spelling is often a giveaway.

It wasn't quite down to luck because I never usually even open an unsolicited message like this and certainly wouldn't click on any links or buttons; I only looked at this one because, coincidentally, I just happen to be expecting a parcel (but not via UPS).
It's spam, bibble - I get them all the time, from Fedex, UPS, US Mail offices - we have tried to deliver, or problem with delivery, please click on the link to contact us/view your order.
They don't so much have your email address as they are mailing every possible combination and are looking for people to respond so they know that address is real - just bin it, block the address if you can on your server.
all together now

spam spam spam spam
spam spam spam spam
spaaaaaaam spammitty spaaaaam
The large body of unrelated text is to try and pass it through spam filters unchecked.
As others have answered, there are loads of false FEDEX emails around saying that they have tried to deliver a parcel unsuccessfully - don't try to use the link included with this junk/spam mail. (Most firewalls prevent you using the link anyway!)
