About a month ago, installing new updates for Windows 7, one of the updates was to upgrade to IE 11 which, although I seldom use it, has upgraded OK and works fine.

Except Windows keeps nagging me important updates need installing and when I look for details, it's IE 11.

Although it has installed and works OK, as I have said, in an attempt to stop the nagging, I have several times attempted to perform the update again which just results in an error message telling me the upgrade failed.

Yesterday there were a whole bunch of new updates. I thought this time it would recognise it has updated to IE 11. But no.
Everything else upgraded but I still received the error message that one important update had failed to install correctly. - IE 11 !!!

How can I let my Windows 7 know it has updated OK?

Don't know about Windows 7 , have so, but don't updates automatically install on shut down ??
Xp...not so...predictive thingy !
Go to the update click on it and click hide the update. Now what you should do is go to installed updates scroll down and uninstall IE11 . Then download IE11 from the Microsoft website and reinstall it. Make sure you download and install the correct version for your OS.

Thanks Galeck.
Following your advice I attempted to uninstall the update. It said it may take several minutes but seemed like forever, until it said, "An error has occurred. Not all of the updates were successfully uninstalled."
On the second attempt, the wait was shorter but the message was the same.
I have the update but cannot remove it and am being nagged to install it.

How I hate Microsoft products.
My advice would have been similar to galeck's. At this point I can only think to suggest trying to install on top again and keeping your fingers crossed. That, or restore the system from over a month ago in the hope it removed system changes such as the IE11 install.
Have you tried "Control Panel", "find and fix problems with windows update"?. I'm no expert, but that's where I'd look.

Microsoft offer a "FixIt" program that is supposed to sort out these problems, when it didn't work, I had to download another extension to FixIt which eventually told me it had fixed the problem and to try searching for updates again. I did and again was told I needed to install the update to add IE 11. Again I tried and received the error message. And I'm still being nagged to install the update that has already been installed and cannot remove!
