Ok - I Give Up
I have tried all the 'solutions' suggested by searching Google to remove the adware monster named Price Companion. It appears randomly on screen as a pop up but having tried many ideas I cannot remove it from my PC.
Using Windows XP, Firefox the nuisance does not appear in Control Panel>Add or Remove - neither is it traced in a Start>run>search.
Anyone any idea how to get rid of this gremlin?
Many thanks

It sounds like an infection of some kind and this should hopefully find it :)

Hi Gizmonster
Have run Malwarebytes, AVG Anti Virus, and Defragment; I checked Task Managr but it does not appear there. The blighter is still there and pops up quite often. On Google there are a number of suggestions to download a particular anti-virus - but if AVG cannot find anything that would be pointless.
Thanks again

Only thing I would add is turn off system restore before you start and when finished turn it back on again.

Download and run Spyhunter 4 it will remove it for you. You have to pay for this program cost is $39.95 USD for 12 month subscription. You should also consider upgrading to Windows 7 as support for XP finishes on the 8th April. You will continue to be infected as the malware writers step up their campaign. You have a 66% more chance of infection with XP compared with Windows 7 with 6%.
Who needs to purchase Spyhunter when the free edition of Malwarebytes is available.
Incidentally, XP will still be safe to use whilst it is being protected by a reasonable Anti Virus programme and, in this regard, Microsoft has extended its MSE to July 2015; after which other free AV programmes will still be available for download.
Hans.
