Please can anyone explain what the symbol (which I can only describe as) 3 spheres joined by lines into an incomplete triange, I am struggling to understand what it is for. Thanks

Well either your face fits or it doesn't :-))
The rss symbol is nothing like 3 spheres joined with lines in an incomplete triangle. I am baffled now.

Sorry you are all hero's and thank you but what is news feed? I assume it keeps you up to date with any additions to the story highlighted. If anyone can point me in the direction to understand these Tumbir, and Reddit sites etc I would be greatful
Just to clarify, I think the icon you seem to be looking for is the green "Share" icon at the top of this page (same link as Buenchico posted):
