can anyone advise on this, best package, i honestly don't know whether switching from talktalk is the best thing but they are serious pissing me off, have had endless letters, mail shots, and phone calls every day for weeks, i don't have a contract with them now, as it ran out, also i don't need all whistles and bells, no tv, mobile in other words, just landline, broadband, i don't even know what broadband capacity i am on. If i did shift to plusnet, does it mean i have to get a mac number.

I think you will need a Mac number from your current supplier before someone else will take you on. When my friend was with Talk Talk he had to pay a fee of £30 to leave the same that he paid to join them as they were not a landline, don't know if that has changed. He had endless problems with them too. When I wanted just a broadband and phone package I used the Post...

Can not really answer your question, would suggest a broadband comparison website, but just to say my woman is with them and had few issues. Happy to stay with them.

I think it may be a case of finding which company offer the best price and service in your area though.
Yes you need a MAC code.I believe they have to give it to you unless your in debt to them, which you aren't.
I was with talk talk and I hated them....with a vengance. Others might like them tho. I also changed to Plus Net. Very happy with them.

that;s interesting thank you, i hate this pestering every damn day, they phone either as i am about to eat, i don't need to answer it, but it might the family so i do, then i get this idiot from SA, India, wherever that i can hardly understand, they prattle on and on, do i know about the tv, mobile package, on offer and on - yes i know all about it, from the junk mail that pours through the door almost every day. so i would need to ask for a mac number, do i need Plusnet router? and is this going to be painless, if anyone looked at the link. which seems a good deal, all advice most welcome

i have landline with talktalk, and broadband. that's it. and that's all i want.
I believe Talk Talk now have to give you your MAC number on demand by law. I use Plusnet and have no problems, the wait time on support telephone lines was poor but seems to have improved but the after sales support has been great, I would recommend Plusnet.
I joined Plusnet late last year and am very pleased with it.
I didn't need my MAC number as, when I phoned Plusnet to ask about joining them, they said they would contact Virgin and arrange all the transfer details. If you also arrange to pay the line rental annually it works out about E3 a month cheaper.
