This just made me think. OK, so my account is deactivated (not deleted). When – sorry, if – I reactivate it I’d expect there not to be any personal notifications, but what about group activity ones? Could that be a bit busy, or does the notification system ignore deactivated accounts?

Seriously think about just jacking in the TV part with BT and buying a recorder from Currys.....cannot be bothered with going through all the fash of changing internet, getting a cable connection or whatever.

@anax......don't worry, if you just deactivated there won't be a backlog of any notifications for you,...your profile pic will just appear as a white silhouette to your friends. Btw, I tried to leave a comment on one of your Youtube vids earlier,..I suppose you review them before allowing them to be posted? ;)

Thanks for the FB info. Dreaded the idea of reactivating to find gazillions of group activity notifications.
As for YouTube, no – not even sure if that setting is available – but apparently these days you need to have a Google account to leave a comment; or some account related to Google anyway. Hopefully others here have more info on that.

@anax,.....yeah, that reviewing comments was available on Youtube a few years ago, but I used to see a notice stating that, don't do now. Not sure what you mean by needing an account,...I'm registered there as Bathsheba,...got my avatar on etc......?

I’m not sure what sort of account it’s supposed to be either. Somebody did tell me once and I forgot!
Funnily enough, whatever this thing is caused me a problem when I tried to upload the Hysteria bass cover video. On my PC, Win Movie Maker has taken to crashing every time I try to add anything to the timeline. But I’ve got WMM on my netbook – a more fiddly version made worse by the small netbook monitor – so I managed to do something basic using that. When I went to upload it directly from WMM it asked me for a password; not for YouTube but (possibly) Google Drive? Not sure – something like that anyway.
In the end I had to save the video to USB stick and move it to my PC from which I did the upload.
