Home Router....and 3G

Just wondered on my iPhone why it's showing on top left Virgin 3G

Surely if I'm sat at home next to the router. It will just be Virgin? Shouldn't need to be 3G
Having probs lately with all manner of connection issues

depending on your settings when using internet some phones will default to 3 or 4g instead fo wireless available...
