Download / Upload Speeds
Just done a speed check through talktalk my provider.
Downloads was 8.06mbps
Uploads was 0.86 mbps. Is this right? There is obviously a considerable difference between the two. Not that I upload much or anything at all but just looks a slow speed

The 'A' in 'ADSL' stands for ' asymmetric'. The system deliberately weights traffic speeds in favour of downloads simply because that's what most users need most. (Whenever you click on a link, or type in a web address, you're uploading a small amount of information in the form of your page request but the size is insignificant when compared with all the data in the web page which you'll get back in return, especially if it contains video content or - like AB pages - loads of ads).
An upload speed of roughly 10% of the download speed is perfectly normal for an ADSL connection.
