how do I stop the 20--30 e.mails I'm suddenly getting sent to my bulk folder?

I'm not sure whether I understand your question. Do you want to:

1) stop getting unwanted emails

or

2) stop wanted emails from going to the bulk folder

If 1) just ignore them, and be grateful that they go into the bulk folder

If 2) add the senders' addresses to your address book
