I have a very efficient spam filter, but I have noticed that a lot of the messages contain either a name or a word that is relevant to messages I either send or receive, if you see what I mean, so how do they know to send themto me. Alsohow comes so many of the messages are similar, for example on certain days they are all about viagra, or on others they are about job opportunities, or investments? Do these people ever make any money from them, or how do they work? I have to admit, I love some of the ridiculous names they use!

Hi lankeela
I have the same problem on my PC.
Sometimes when I am emailing my Sister in USA we discuss something and the next day a spam email will arrived pertaining to some word or name I have actually used in the conversation.
I am at the stage I delete them without opening them now.
They don't know to send them to you. What is happening is that your spam filter is examining squillions of spam e-mails which are sent to you randomly, rejecting most of them and letting through these particular ones because by chance they include words or phrases which appear relevant, based on the contents of your legitimate traffic .
