building my own site

hi, i know nothing to do with building a website, but due to start my childminding business soon and would like to have my own site. i dont know where to go and what to do and it all confuses me. Once i have what i need i would be able to fatherm it all out, but i dont know what to actually look for and how much i should be paying. i know i have to get a domain name but whats the hosting and the servers thing!? Please help.
