I sent a gmail to a friend but made a small error in the address so it went to a total stranger. They were ok about it but they replied to me using another of my emails, (orange).
I didnt mention my friends name but they knew it. So my questions are,
How did they know my orange address, and how did they know my friends full name?

It depends how your email is set up, I have no idea how it is set up but it is possible that while you are getting the emails in via a certain address your reply address is set to the Orange account.

Was this a new message, or one with history which could have shown other addresses and your friends real name?

Hi WoWo, I cant remember how it was set up,(how do I check)?
The thing is they first replied to the google address and then to the orange one.
This was a new message. They have'nt been back so Im assuming that they are ok ,it just seems strange.

maybe you have mentioned your friends full name in the former message? like 'hey john smith how are you' :)

It is probably somewhere in your settings. I have my gmail sent to my msn address but it also leaves a copy in gmail. Hope that helps.

Thanks all, yeah auzzie it seems to have been in my settings. I got in touch and that seems to be it.
