Broadband - Is It Worth It?

I'm currently on dial-up but thinking of changing to at least 2mg b/band. Will I notice a difference say roaming a site like this? Might download music in future. Though about Talktalk but heard bad vibes...now thinking AOL. Any views please ???

You will notice a huge difference - I promise you.

There is no way I could bear to go back to dial up - and I am 'only' on the 2mg bb.

I noticed a huge difference in speed when I first got broadband, which was only a quarter of my current speed, so you will be pleasantly surprised.

Other benefits include no nasty dial up noise, no possibility of rogue diallers and you can use your telephone whilst on line.

Don't touch Orange with a bargepole - tied in to a dreadful service for 2 years for the sake of a laptop you wouldn't buy.

I am with Virgin (formerly telewest) and I like it.

In terms of providers... it seems everybody has a different opion, NTL and Wanadoo have a really bad reputation but I never had a moments problem with either of them (over 5 years), however when it went to Orange Broadband it was rubbish.

Again things may be different these days but AOL always had a bad reputation, if for nothing else than it installed all sorts of crap on your PC. It's similar with BT, my dad for example has BT broadband it installed all sorts of rubbish on his PC. I just got BT broadband at my new place but refused to install anything (as it is unnecessary) and it seems to work fine with my current (Belkin MIMO) router without having to install a single thing from BT.

Been on Tesco Broadband nearly 3 years .Never had to make a complaint always runs perfect. Also get your points every momth.

Stay clear of TalkTalk and AOL. I recommend Tiscali, if you want ADSL broadband through your phone.

I find them to be very reliable, good phone service, cheap prices, and unlimited internet (you don't get charged if you download a lot).

Strangely enough when calling up a webpage not much noticeable difference, on mine anyway. Where you notice the difference is when you download a large file or update. The Megabytes just fly in.

I would also avoid orange and talk talk.

Im with Eclipse and have had a faultless service since switching from Orange(Wanadoo/Freeserve as was).

Eclipse also do 'unlimited' broadband for the same money as other providers offer capped services such as 2meg.
