What are your ideas about messageboards ?

e.g. should they be heavily moderated or a free-for-all. Could you trust certain mischievous elements to behave if they knew there were no restraints ? I have created a messageboard, gibbon-based, and I promise that everybody who joins will be given super-dooper-moderator status. Do you think this will work ?

Oooohhhh a gibbon-based message board - are gibbons like scallions ? or should that be scallywags ?

OK, silliness over, can't the message-board be just medium to lightly moderated - does it have to be at one extreme end or the other ? If I joined up, can I wear my mischievous element hat or would I have to be sober suited ? (I must explain that I have not yet opened my bottle of wine, so if I'm going to be sober suited, you'd better let me in really soon.)
