wireless connection

hi all i have just set up my wireless connection but the download speed is not even a meg but when i connect via an ethernet cable i get over 3 meg can anyone help me with this problem please? i am using windows vista basic and iam using orange broadband and a D Link wireless router and adapter

A wireless conection will never give as fast a connection as a wired connection.

I do not use wireless so cannot say if the difference you are getting is normal, but if you can, try to use a wired connection.

How is the wireless adaptor connected to your computer? If it's via USB1 then that would probably be the cause of the bottleneck, especially if you have a number of other USB devices active at the same time.

Even the slowest wireless standards are much faster than 3 mbs, so the actual wireless part shouldn't be a problem.
