Internet browsing and Vista

Hi all, is it just me or does Windows Vista slow down browsing the internet? I bought a new computer hoping to speed up my browsing but now if anything its a lot worse. Vista was already installed on the new computer, so I didn't have much choice!

Personally I don't find it that slow most of the time and I have a Dial up connection . Have you got a trial version of Norton Internet Security installed ? I found that while I had that things were much slower I now use AVG Free Anti virus software. Also a lot of people find the Firefox browser faster Yuo can have both browsers installed at the same time so you have nothing to loose in trying it. Many Thanks for your replies, I've tried Gromit's first repair and it seems to have improved a bit!
Daren't try Joe's solution as it seems just a bit too much over my head, (running two browsers etc puts the wind up me). But thanks anyway!

Just to help anyone out there with the same problem , you may be interested to know that I've just downloaded Firefox as a browser and I am amazed by the results! internet as it should be, pages download in milliseconds instead of minutes as it was with Internet Explorer. Many thanks to Gromit & Joe Shmoe for your help.
