website that has vanished

My daughter recently purchased furniture from a site which has taken her money from her account and have now mysteriously vanished without trace........Anyone know how to track down such a site???

Unfortunately anyone can set up a web site that looks as though it is a reputable company but it may be a spotty 17 year old kid in the USA, or a criminal gang in Nigeria.

NEVER buy from a company that you dont know or who have just started up.

There is a faciity on the internet called "Whois" which can tell you when a domain was created (amongst other things)

You can use this to see if a company has just been created. If it is stay well clear.
