Wireless signal keeps dropping out
hi i've got virgin cable 2mb broadband running with a brand new recommended 40 quid wireless netgear router
however often, especially when i first connect to the internet, pages will not load at all, if i wait a while everything then seems to be fine
This happens no matter how near or far away from the router i happen to be. Is there something interfering with the signal ?
can anyone recommend a strategy to fix this problem?
Is there any point getting onto virgin about this or perhaps changing the router?
any advice will be MASSIVELY appreciated
Thanks

If you just turn on your router and modem, then try and connect, then it won't work.
The modem has to be given a minute or so to communicate with Virgin's servers. Then the router has to communicate with the modem.
On the front of the modem are some lights, some of which will mean that the connection is ok and ready to go.

Go into your web browser, and just type 192.168.2.1 and press enter in the address bar. No www. bit, no http://, nothing.
It should open the router settings pages, probably asking for its password. Then you can set the router up. If you can access this page then you're connected to the router fine and your issue is the router to modem or modem to virgin.
