Duplicate email messages

I have recently changed from using Outlook Express to Windows Live Mail. However in the changeover process, all the messages in my different folders have been duplicated ie I have 2 of every message in every file.
Is there an easy way to remedy this or do I have to go through and delete each 'extra' message?
