Blue Screen
Is there an idiot proof way of getting rid of the blue screen problem? I've no idea where it came from and posted a question asking why AOL was shutting down my computer. When I looked at the message about the problem it said Blue Screen and when I looked on the web about it all I got was complicated information on how to deal with it or sites that claim their download will clear it. I downloaded the MS Windows degugger but it is still happening.
Its seems ridiculous to me that I can get Internet Explorer and then get onto AOL but if I try to sign on directly my computer shuts down.
Thanx

Normally Windows has built in recovery so if it gets a problem it can carry on (this goes on all the time and most of us are not aware of it happening).
But sometimes Windows gets a problem that is so bad it basically throws up its hands in despair and says "sorry I cannot carry on".
For that reason BSOD problems are hard to fix.

BSOD could be caused by a bad device driver (have you installed any new hardware lately) or maybe updated one of your drivers?
It could be a hardware problem (are all your components inside the PC case secure, could one have become dislodged)?
If you can write down some of the message numbers that appear on your screen you could then search the web.
If, for example you have a STOP message followed by a number, try searchng on that number. It may look like this
STOP 0x0000001e

Anyone can get a Blue Screen.
