When trying to view TV programmes on BBC Iplayer, after a few minutes of each episode, what I'm watching freezes. Why does it do that and how can I prevent this, please?

Your internet connection can't send the data fast enough to provide a continuous picture. The only way to fix it is to upgrade to a better broadband connection (or complain to your ISP if they're not providing you with the speed that your existing contract promises).

In the meantime, when it starts to play, pause it, make a drink or something for five minutes, and then press play - it should catch up with itself that way.

Thanks to you both for that.

I used to have to do that wee trick for some, but not all, YouTube videos I watched, so will try it for iplayer as well.

I didn't mention it earlier, but this freezing only seems to occur in the evenings, and I can watch iplayer virtually problem free in the mornings. Why is this?
More traffic to iPlayer in the evenings, slowing it up
Set them to download to your computer when things are quiet, then watch at your leisure.

It takes ages to download, but start it at a suitable time and you won't notice.

Thanks for the last tip...and for the explanation.

Will try a download and see if it works for me.

Cheers!
