wireless access

My wireless connection is playing up: initially shows a speed of '54.0' then drops back to 1.0. within the space of 2 seconds.Signal strength shows 'excellent', then 'no signal', respectively. Why can't it maintain the connection?
Help....

Try updating you router firmware and your the wireless drivers for the computer with the dipping signal strength.
