sold a good working phone on ebay that worked for the buyer for 3 days, now its broken they want money back! where do i stand

Paypal should require the buyer to return the phone to you at the buyer's expense before they would find in the buyer's favour. That involves the buyer sending it via a tracked/signed for servive so that they can prove to Paypal that you have got it back.

If the buyer wants their money back but won't return you the goods......that stinks. Sit back and wait for Paypal to cme to you then present them with the evidence so far, namely - it worked when you sold it; it worked for the buyer; then they said it doesn't work, want money back, but won't return goods to you.
