Google Chrome,is it worth changing to?

On my Google Homepage it is asking if I want to change to Google Chrome.I am quite happy with the Google page I use,,is it worth changing to Google Chrome?

Any experience/advice would be welcome.

Try it. You can uninstall it if you don't like it. I like it very much.

I like how the Google Chrome browser looks but it's not as practical as Firefox. The scrolling of pages in Chrome is clunky whereas Forefox is really smooth and you don't get the McAfee SiteAdvisor for Chrome add on, which I think is a must if you browse the Internet a lot.

It is worth running several major browsers in parallel, e.g. IE, Firefox, Chrome, Safari. This is because occasionally a site or page that stubbornly will not load in one browser will sometimes load in another. Classic example, this site continuously erroring in Firefox and IE - try it on Chrome, it often works.

Yes,I thought it was just an updated Google Search engine,it wasn't made clear(well if it was I miissed it) that it is a browser.
IF I decided to download it would I be able to run it AND Internet Explorer,or would there be an inevitable conflict?
I am very happy (so far) with IE,so unless Google Chrome is superior I don't think I will bother.

You can install and run as many browsers as you like. Each is a separate application.

There should not be any conflict.

(Dont do EVERYTHING Google tell you to do. They make BILLIONS of pounds taking what we search on to target their advertising to us so they are not actually on OUR side).

To show how Google target their advertising look at the adverts on the right of this page.

When I look at it I see adverts for "Chrome Heated Towel Rail", "Chrome Ceiling Lights", and "Bodypower Chrome" (whatever that is).

So Google has realised we are talking about "Chrome" and have put up adverts for anything related to Chrome (they dont realise we are talking about their browser).

This targetted advertising is going on all over the internet.

Thanks to everyone for their helpful input,especially to craft for drawing my attention to the fact that Chrome is a browser and not just a Google update!
Reading the blurb again the word browser kept popping out at me,quite how I missed it in the first place I can't think!
(Specsavers here I come)
I shall stick with IE as it has been kind to me.

Google posts the link to the Chrome installer under a statement saying "Upgrade to Google Chrome". It is pretentious and misleading.

I am not at all surprised that people don't realise what they are being offered.

I know I should know the answer but what is specifically different between a search engine and a browser ? I have both and seem to get the same results.

A browser is the program you use to view pages on the Internet, for example Internet Explorer (which comes with Windows) and FireFox and a search engine is a website with a search facility to help you find the information you are looking for.
