Problem signing into Messenger

As of today I can't sign into Windows Messenger on my computer. Error code number 8e5e06f6 comes up. Other people can sign in to their accounts using my computer with no problems. I can sign into my account on other computers with no problem, just not on my own computer. I have googled the error number but everything was a bit complicated for me and didn't get anywere. Can anyone help with a reasonably simple solution. I am not very computer literate!
