Which broadband supplier

A friend of mine has just retired and now she can't use the internet at work she needs to sign up for it at home. What is the best deal around at present? She uses BT for her phone. Any suggestions?

I agree with vibra, I have had virgin for over a year with no loss of service compared to a miserable time with BT

I am with virgin been with them or ntl for 12 years no probs,but you do need a cable service in your street.

Virgin used to be NTL.

If you are in a cabled area then yes, go for virgin. if not look at packages, for example if you have sky TV then the SKY package is a good deal.

I've been with Virgin for a year now. No problems now. After a period of telephone calls to their centre(which were free!), they put my problems right (caused by my own inexperience). It's fast compared to my previous supplier, Tiscali. Due to the fibre optics i've been told

Hi lankeela,we are also with Virgin. We only had problems when we moved house and they went on for a few weeks but were eventually sorted out by a brilliant customer services guy.I also received a beautiful bunch of flowers to apologise for the inconvenience.Not heard that before!
We have very fast broadband,tv and landline.About £30 a month with free calls.

I'm with BT and have no complaints regarding quality of service, but they aren't cheap. When my current contract is up I may look at Virgin as the house I moved into is already Virgin cabled.

I have been with TalkTalk since it started and I can recommend them. I know some people have had trouble but my experience has been different. My package, for around £25 per month includes free phone calls at any time, free broadband, land line and free international calls.

Virgin is reliable and not had problems in nearly 6 years. Speed is always what I am paying for. Go with their phone/tv/bb package.

Forget TalkTalk - their customer service is an absolute nightmare. Overseas call centres with clueless operators reading from a script in unintelligible accents. They have also been known to hang up if they don't know how to deal with your call. Their bills are incomprehensible and frequently incorrect. The only way to get anyone decent is to threaten to leave and their retention department are reasonably capable people.

No they didn't. ntl:TeleWest licensed the Virgin brand name from Richard Branson and renamed the company VirginMedia. Same company, same people, different name...

I've been with AOL for 3 years but recently changed to BT and have noticed my broadband is much faster. I am paying £21.00 a month for broadband and phone with free evening and weekend calls. BT only offered me this deal though when I said I was leaving them.
