How do I close my windows live account? All I can seem to do is delete my hotmail account but my actual window live account remains.

Yes tried that but each one (hotmail/windows live id) tells you to close the other one first and when you go to close one you have to open the other thus re activating the account.
I'll just leave it in active for a year then it closes itself lol

Do you have linked accounts then? if so you may have to unlink them before deleting.

delete your account which is able to remove most of these accounts
http://deleteyouraccount.com and it will give you a step by step guide on how to do it
