Thank you both of you. We have just had our laptop back from toshiba and a lot of the shortcuts I had on it have disappeared but I'll get there eventually!!
Both will help. The first will delete any temporary internet files. The second will suggest other files you can delete to save even more space
"The first will delete any temporary internet files."
No it won't - it will simply clear the MRU list.

Thanks everyone. Rojash - what is the MRU list?
There's a program called cc cleaner which is free and it clears up memory by deleting unneeded stuff for you.
Ruthie -I think MRU means Most recently Used
Yes rogash- I meant using internet options, delete etc gives the option to delete temporary internet files. That's right isn't it?
When I tried it on IE it says..

Delete temporary files, history, cookies, saved passwords, and web form information.
"gives the option to delete temporary internet files. That's right isn't it? "
Yes, "gives the option" is the point I was making (not very clearly, I admit).

I'm not a great one for recommending optimizing utilities and the like, but I agree with flobadob that CCleaner is handy for keeping your machine tidy. http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner

Just remember to untick cookies if you like to automatically log into sites.

Thanks everyone. I found something called Internet Options and have created a shortcut to desktop so it's even easier now.
