Facebook instant message

I have recently joined Facebook and found that I cannot send or reply to instant messages from friends.When I press the enter key on the keyboard to send the message ,or reply to one, nothing happens.Anyone any idea how to resolve this? I am using the version of internet explorer that was available in 2009 when I had this laptop..

So I presume all the other updates that should have been installed since 2009 haven't been installed either?

Do a windows update and keep doing it until there are no more updates available (it might take 3 or 4 updates) and then try again.

It may no solve your problems with facebook, but at least you'll have all the important security patches installed.
