Some mobile phones have their cameras described as VGA, instead of quoting the number of megapixels.

What does VGA mean please?

I hate to say this (and I really don't often) but just typing vga into google would have told you,
but it's 640x480 so 307200 pixels (about 1/3MP)
VGA = Video Graphics Array, which is used to describe a 640 x 480 pixel resolution, which is equivalent to 0.3Mp

Chuck, as this is a question and answer website, why can I not ask a question?
Further:
If the quality of the lens is good enough (which is at least as important as the number of megapixels available), 640 x 480 can yield quite good quality pictures when viewed on a small screen but such pictures won't print very well.
