repairing motherboard?

If you motherboard has gone can u repair it and wot are the signs of knowing if it has gone?could it be battery inside the machine?

If the battery has gone the clock will lose its settings and the CPU will probably revert to a default fail-sfe setting.
If this is further to your previous post about re-installing the OS, then if the motherboard itself was faulty you would not hear the single beep confirming that it had completed the POST routine and would not get as far as telling you that it could not detect an OS.
If it does both of these then it is unliikely that the mobo is faulty.
Havng said that, its not worth repairing. A new mobo starts from like �25!

The trouble is, if this is a follow-up to her (his) previous post, the mobo in question is in a laptop which is why I did not mention the point you made.

Don`t know what on earth the other poster is getting at, maybe on his planet AMD don`t exist yet.
