dark shadow on laptop screen...?
7 Answers
the screen looks perfectly fine normally, but whenever i am watching a film and the image goes dark, or blank, i can see a kind of dark stripe from top to bottom, about 2 inches or so wide at the top tapering to about one inch, on the left hand side of the screen.
i cannot see it when the machine is off as it needs the low level glow behind to make it show
its been there a while and doesnt really cause me any problems - but just wondering what it could be? why its there? and does it need looking into?
thanks

...this is a shadow...only one, that, as i said above, is only visible when the screen goes dark - not there all the time, and is not a strip of black ...but an oddly shaped shadow...
its not down the far left side but mid left...
can any one help?

it actually doesnt look like any of them...most there seem to have lightening round the edges... and inparticular in the 4 corners...this does not at all... the clear bits are very clear...not at all mottled...and although the edges of the shadow are blurred they are much sharper than any of them....
still, it sounds the most likely cause
