updating nokia phone via t'internet

my orange nokia 5230 has been playing up for a couple of days.
i finally got through to support today and they told me how to update everything.
First, i had to download PC suite to back up my stuff (as some of it may get deleted)
After a long long effort, i couldn't sync the two, it just kept saying no.

I tried just updating anyway, and risk losing the media, but i couldn't do that either.
Now I can't get through to support at all.
I'm sure he said that you can do it from a pc but how can i if it won't sync?

PC Suite is'nt used by Nokia any more. You need to download Nokia ovi suite.
I'm assuming your using Windows XP, Vista or 7.

I never had much success with PC suite myself and was glad when they updated it.
If you do update your 'phone make sure you've got a backup of all your phone numbers.
