I have a Region 2 DVD player but need to watch Region 1 DVDs for my film dissertation. Is there a reliable way to convert my player? I am happy to buy a new DVD recorder so long as there is one which plays region 1 and 2! Thanks

you can put a code into most dvd players to play region 1 but you have to find the code for your particular make of player
google it
There are plenty of dvd players/recorders on market that will play multi region dvds eg http://www.richersoun...vx582-mr/lg-dvx582-mr

Thanks! Merlin- I need a multi region DVD recorder. Any chance you could look for one of those for me?! I'm confused- I don't need USB/Hard drives!

Merlin has gone to exactly the same place as I would have done to buy a multi-region DVD player. (It's where I got mine from).

However all DVD players are initially manufactured as 'multi-region' and then 'locked' to one particular region. Removing that lock is usually a very simple process (such as opening the drawer and entering a 4-digit code via the remote control). So, before you buy a new DVD player, tell us which one you've already got. We might be able to tell you how to unlock it.

In case Trimeresurus's reference to 'Region 0' has confused you (when you're asking about 'Region 1') I'll just point out that his post and mine are actually saying the same thing. (i.e. 'Region 0' is the same as 'Multi-Region').

...at 22.01, OP stated that she wanted a DVD RECORDER, not that she wants to convert her existing player.

Well, yes,I do know that... but OP said she wanted a RECORDER.

Hi! I need a DVD recorder, and mine is a Sony but has stopped playing discs. They get stuck or don't play at all. So I toyed with the idea of entering the code, but if the discs won't play I guess I have to buy a new one- hence asking for ideas. But thank you- sorry I only just got around to coming on here and answering!!
